1on1 Tutoring with China’s Best Teachers

We offer our students some of the best teachers in the Mandarin language learning marketplace. How do we know?

• First, we select them based on characteristics that serious learners feel are extremely important to the best teachers: they must be fun, effective, and creative
  • Fun: Every good teacher must be able to capture and hold the student’s attention and make learning enjoyable.
  • Effective: Good teachers know their subject matter, and they know the best way to convey it such that “learning” truly occurs.
  • Creative: Finally, good teachers think creatively about their lessons, treating no two students alike, and making adjustments throughout a lesson based on a student’s dynamic needs.
• Second, we only give you experienced teachers, who have at minimum been teaching Chinese as a foreign language for several years. Experienced teachers have a thorough grasp of Chinese language and grammar and know how to effectively teach foreigners the finer points of Mandarin.
• Third, every teacher must pass an intensive program, designed to ensure “the best,” which includes 2 weeks of initial training. But the training does not stop there; each teacher is monitored and coached at least twice per month and scored by a proprietary GuavaTalk scorecard by a supervisor.

Detailed Post-Lesson Feedback

Shortly after your online Chinese class, your teacher will deliver a detailed feedback and further instruction to your email inbox. Because GuavaTalk lessons are recorded and saved, our teachers will play them back and carefully take note of your strengths as well as focal areas for growth. Our teachers are able to correct significantly more areas in your pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary than a traditional teacher could in an offline environment because of our unique online learning environment.

Personal Learning Advocate

Once you become a GuavaTalk student, you will be assigned a personal learning advocate to guide you on your journey toward Mandarin mastery. She will take note of your goals, match you with a teacher, help devise a curriculum plan for you, monitor your progress, make adjustments to your curriculum as needed, answer any questions concerning the curriculum, ensure a quality experience with GuavaTalk, and much more.
